The ghost ships of Hartlepool, “Polluted Teesside is the last place in Britain a new UK ship-breaking industry should be created”, say green campaigners. Green groups objected to Able UK's multi-million pound contract to do the work saying America had a moral obligation to deal with its own waste and claiming the project posed an eco-risk to Teesside. It was in November 2003 that the first ghost ship arrived from the USA. The argument goes on, ‘Environment or Employment? In the meantime, the ships rot!
